Project Title: Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Charging: Models, Controls and Electricity Sector Impacts

Dr. Ma studied system-level impacts of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to develop new tools to model and control large populations of charging PHEVs to achieve objectives such as minimizing electricity sector CO2 emissions or operating cost. This postdoctoral position was a part of a $5M effort involving Detroit Edison, General Motors, and multiple units at the University of Michigan including the School of Natural Resources and Environment and the Departments of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
