About the Event

Distributed energy storage has many potential uses, including the provision of market services such as ancillary services and energy, and the provision of infrastructure services, such as distribution deferral. Although such uses of storage are recognized, there are still a number of non-technology barriers to such use of distributed energy storage. In this talk, we will survey two such issues: (1) challenges in modeling the use of distributed energy storage for multiple (and potentially competing) applications and (2) cost-recovery and regulatory issues related to using storage for multiple applications. We also discuss some potential solutions to these issues.
